Can I run a virtual mailbox business from a coworking space?
Straight answer
Yes. A coworking space can run a virtual mailbox business if the space itself registers as the CMRA by filing PS Form 1583-A at its delivery Post Office, receives mail at a real commercial address during business hours, and collects a completed Form 1583 with two IDs from every member who receives mail there. Addresses use PMB or # numbering.

Who is the CMRA, the space or the operator?
The business that receives mail at the address is the CMRA and files Form 1583-A. If you manage mail for a landlord or a separate operating company, settle whose name goes on that form first.
Form 1583-A names the CMRA, its owner or manager, and the address. Whoever signs it is the party USPS holds responsible for every customer record and every quarterly certification, and the party whose name appears in the CMRA section of each member's Form 1583. Choose that entity deliberately; changing it later means refiling and, in many cases, new customer forms.
Do members who already rent a desk still need Form 1583?
Yes. Anyone who receives mail at your address as a customer completes Form 1583 with two IDs, whether they rent a desk, an office, or nothing but the address.
USPS does not distinguish between a member who sits in the space daily and one who only uses the address. Each person completes a Form 1583, presents one primary photo ID and one secondary traceable ID, and has the form witnessed by you, witnessed over live video, or acknowledged before a notary, including a remote online notary. A business plus its named officers on one address means one form per person.
Each approved form then goes into the USPS Customer Registration Database with both ID images, and you certify the roster every quarter. Innbocks runs this flow for each member from a link: the member's ID is read to prefill the form, notarization is remote, and you approve from the dashboard.
How should member addresses be written?
Use the street address followed by PMB and a number, or # and a number. Never Suite or Unit for a private mailbox.
Coworking spaces are especially prone to this mistake because the building may have real suites. A member's mailing address is a private mailbox, and USPS requires it to read as one. Our PMB addressing page has the format and the reasons: /compliance/pmb-addressing.
Can I offer virtual mailboxes to people who never visit the space?
Yes. That is the virtual mailbox product: you log each arrival, the member sees it in a portal, and requests a scan, forward, shred, or pickup.
